The two main newspapers, the Daily/Sunday Herald, with a readership of 31,000 daily, and
the Roanoke Valley Journal, with a readership of 10,000 weekly, are the main sources of

Charter Communications is Roanoke Rapids' cable provider,
supplying both basic and digital cable services. Basic includes 13 channels (40 for
cable-ready televisions) such as WRAL TV 5 and WTVD Channel 11 out of Raleigh, North
Carolina, and Roanoke Rapids' own WNVN Channel 20. Digital service includes several
channels such as HGTV, the Sci-Fi Channel, and numerous movie and pay-per-view channels.
Additional services available include ESPN, USA Network, The Nashville Network, CNN, MTV,
CMT, HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, the Disney Channel, and the Starz and Encore Movie Channels.
WNVN Channel 20 operates twenty-four hours a day featuring
all news, including local news, local sports, local features and Baltimore Orioles
baseball games.
