BARC will be hosting a Christmas luncheon on Friday, December 12 from 11:30 – 2:00 at the Kirkwood Adams Community Center.

Christmas on the Canal: The Roanoke Canal Museum and Trail is proud to announce this year’s Christmas on the Canal event being held on Saturday, December 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This year’s theme and decorations will be based on Chris Van Allsburg’s best-selling book "The Polar Express." Live musical performances will begin at 10:00 a.m. At noon, guests are invited to enjoy the reading and visual presentation of "The Polar Express" and afterward, children will be invited to make train engine ornaments out of candy. Throughout the day, homemade Christmas goodies and beverages will be served free of charge.

Christmas in the Park will be held on Sunday, December 14 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Centennial Park. The Fire Department will be selling Kevin Hawkins’ famous, award-winning chili. Other refreshments will also be on sale. Some of the activities include: pictures taken with Santa for purchase, smoke house demonstrations for kids of all ages and wagon rides to see neighborhood decorations.

Annual "Goody Day" at City Hall will be held on Tuesday, December 23 beginning at 10:00 a.m. If you would like to contribute "goodies", tables will be set up in the hallway of the second floor early that morning. Please plan to stop by and join us.

Municipal offices will be closed December 24, 25 and 26 for the Christmas holidays.

Municipal offices will be closed on January 1 for New Year’s Day and also on January 2—thanks to action taken by City Council last evening.
