Citizens Police Academy

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department’s Community Outreach program “Citizens Police Academy” takes you behind the badge to learn about the many aspects of law enforcement in our community.

The Citizens Police Academy is designed to familiarize the citizens with administrative philosophies, and guiding principles of law and ethical conduct governing the deliver of police services and provide our citizens with an appreciation for the problems and challenges facing law enforcement. Our goal is to provide citizens with open discussion and hands-on activities that foster better understanding of how the Roanoke Rapids Police Department works with the community.

As a “cadet”, you will participate in various activities that will enable you to better understand the job of police officers, learn about community policing and how you can get involved, help your community better address crime and safety within your community.

Each Citizens Police Academy contains a target group of about 25 participants. Individuals are selected from through an application process from all areas of Roanoke Rapids, and efforts are made to include members of the business and religious communities, as well as local community leaders, and the like.

Contact Administrative Officer Andy Jackson at (252) 533-2810 or ajackson@roanokerapidsnc.com for more information.
