The Office of the City Clerk is responsible for attending all meetings of the City Council and recording official actions; schedules citizens for appearance before City Council; provides information concerning Council activities; prepares the “Roanoke Rapids City Page” for inclusion in the Roanoke Rapids Daily Herald each Sunday; acts as custodian of all legal documents pertaining to the City; prepares and publishes City ordinances, resolutions and notices of public hearings as required by law; assists in the preparation of the Council agenda; codifies the Code of Ordinances; administers oaths of office; provides administrative assistance to the City Manager, Mayor and City Council; coordinates City Council appointments to their advisory boards and committees and serves as the point-of-contact for citizens wishing to serve.
