Recruitment and Selection

We recruit applicants for all City job openings and assists departments in selecting, hiring and orienting employees.

Compensation and Classification

Classification and compensation programs are developed and administered by Human Resources to ensure equity in paying employees.

Benefits Management and Administration

We develop, manage and administer a comprehensive benefits plan, including health and dental coverage, life and other insurance programs, retirement benefits, voluntary benefits (vision insurance, cancer insurance, etc) and NC401(k) or 457 Deferred Compensation plans.

Performance Management

Staff assist departments in evaluating and documenting employee performance and recognizing employee achievements.

Compliance and Records Management

We maintain official personnel records for all city employees, and provide access to information in compliance with privacy provisions of the public records laws.  We also ensure compliance with state and federal employment law mandates.

Employee Relations

Human Resources has an open door policy for employees to share concerns and suggestions.  We strive to ensure fair treatment of employees at all times and to promote a satisfying working environment throughout our organization.

Risk Administration

We investigate and process all City auto, general liability and property claims through the comprehensive insurance and risk management program.
