The mission of the Roanoke Rapids Parks and Recreation Department is to serve the community by providing a well-rounded program of activities for all ages and by providing safe, attractive, and clean park and recreation facilities.

Halifax-Northampton Regional AirportThe new $14.5 million Halifax-Northampton Regional Airport (IXA) officially opened for business on May 1, 2009.  This general aviation airport consists of a 5,500 foot runway, modern terminal facilities, 18 T-Hangars, fuel farm, and corporate hangar facilities. Construction of a parallel taxiway is underway and installation of an Approach Lighting System (ALS) will begin this fall. 

The Halifax-Northampton Regional Airport is located at 700 Gregory Farm Road, just 5 minutes from Interstate 95. For a location map, click here.

The Halifax-Northampton Regional Airport is owned and operated by the Halifax-Northampton Regional Airport Authority. Up-to-date airport facilities are vital to attracting new and expanded business and opportunities. The new Halifax-Northampton Regional Airport represents a unique regional partnership involving the counties of Halifax and Northampton and the City of Roanoke Rapids to promote growth and economic development opportunities for the area.

The following facilities are available at the Halifax-Northampton Regional Airport:

5,500' Runway
A 5,500' X 100'  runway can accommodate private and corporate aircraft.

Terminal Facilities
Our modern terminal building has a spacious lobby and vending area, visitor information center, operations room, offices, conference room, pilot lounge, quiet room and other facilities. These facilities provide comfortable amenities found at many larger airports.

Fuel
Fuel facilities are now available self-service 24 hours a day and offer Jet A and 100 LL fuels.

Hangars
There are 18 T-Hangars located at the Halifax-Northampton Regional Airport. All of the hangars are currently leased. Construction of five additional hangars has just been completed and ready for lease. For additional information about hangars, contact Ralph Johnson, Airport Manager, at 252-583-3492.

Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS)
The Halifax-Northampton Regional Airport is equipped with an FAA-certified Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS). Minute-to-minute updates are available to pilots by VHF radio at 119.975 radio. AWOS data is available to off-site users by calling 252-583-3446.

Approach Lighting System (ALS)
Installation of an Approach Lighting System (ALS) will begin in the fall of this year.

Halifax Corporate Park
The Halifax Corporate Park is a 700-acre industrial park located adjacent to the Halifax-Northampton Regional Airport.
